Good afternoon,
Today feels like a Monday as I was in Harrogate over the weekend at a trade fair so just back to HQ today! Beautiful place and great weather for once! Myself and Mr Jones ventured up there on Sunday to talk to suppliers (like Charlotte Balbier, Amanda Wyatt and Blue by Enzoani) and keep and eye out for anything new... Mr Jones was brilliant although he did insist on bringing his Autocar Magazine with him for a dose of 'man things' while away!
Things still busy at Mrs Jones and we are entering our planning stages... We had such a great response to the Opening and things have been hectic since. It is really nice to sit back a bit now and plan future activities and products given your feedback and comments! We are working on a few new things and I hope to be able to give you details of this soon......
I have deliberately NOT talked about the Royal Wedding yet! Don't want you all to be sick of it before it happens but with only 6 weeks left, we are thinking about our windows and how to celebrate in style! Wedding fever will shortly be upon us and it's so nice to celebrate something so positive and happy given all the terrible events of the last few weeks, and all the doom and gloom of the economy. We won't be opening on the actual day of the Royal Wedding - as I am sure you will all be at home watching it- but I will certainly be gripped to see what Kate will be wearing!
Lots of customers have been asking me what I think she will go for and how it will affect business.. It's the million dollar question and there has been a lot of speculation in the media although none of it confirmed. One thing is for sure, it will certainly be more understated than Diana's. It think it will be sophisticated and certainly have the 'wow' factor but more for its elegance and cut rather than anything too quirky and eccentric!
Lace has been a real trend for me. Girls have been seeking dresses which are different but not wacky, elegant but not boring and dresses which really make a statement for them. I am really pleased that my current collection does indeed offer something for everyone and I will continue to look to update it. After the trip to Harrogate, it's obvious lace is still huge as well as textured designs and patterns...
I don't think people will be running out to buy exact copies of Kate's dress but I certainly think the style and material will influence future trends and buying habits. I have a sneeky suspicion she may well go for lace for all the reasons above but I don't think anyone will really know until the day!
That's enough Royal Wedding chat - a taster with more to come!
