What a Grand Weekend!

Wow, what a great Grand Opening on Saturday! Thanks to everyone who came in and everyone who helped out!

It all started at 10.30 am when we had The Mayor of Newbury officially open us and 'cut the ribbon'. Our thanks to The Mayor, Cllr Ian Grose who did a small speech and stayed for a while after to talk to customers and enjoy our fantastic cupcakes! We cut our very special 'Mrs Jones cake' together and posed for shots for the Newbury Weekly News!
He even let me try on his Mayor jewels !! Check out the pictures....

Sadly Charlotte Balbier couldn't attend as she was ill but has promised to come back soon and host a designer day so we look forward to that and send our 'get well' messages to her.

I was on Newbury Sound during the day to promote the event (during the News bulletins) so that gave us some great radio coverage (although I must apologise for my 'radio' voice which seemed to take over on the interview with Faye Marsh!) and girls had seen our ad in Newbury Weekly News or been on our website to find out more!

We dressed our windows up specially and I was particularly pleased with how these turned out - we will aim to change them every 2-3 weeks and try and theme them each time - this time it was a 'Charlotte Balbier Spring theme' which looked really fresh and modern I think.

It was great to meet so many 'brides to be' and chat to them about their weddings. Lots of yummy cupcakes were eaten and so many compliments over them! A good friend's mum made them so thanks so much to Diana Kelly - I think I have about 10 orders for you! Jemma Laye Beauty and Sian Williams from Roderick Anthony were offering complimentary mini manicures for girls who came in which was a great hit!

We made lots of appointments that day and everyone who booked left with a beautiful spring tulip in our 'Mrs Jones' pink courtesy of LuLu Flowers in Pound Street, Newbury.

Jodie and Becky were our 'brides for the day' and modelled the dresses for our customers. Committed to the core, they also braved the cool weather and took to the streets to hand out leaflets and balloons to customers! At the end of the day, Becky fell in love with one dress and it was a struggle to get her out of it! I think she was going home to convince her husband to marry her again!

In the evening, we had a few friends and family over to celebrate with a glass or two of wine and everyone left about 11.00 pm!

My thanks to everyone who supported us. Overall a very long but hugely successful day.

Thank you

Mrs Jones x
